Building in Costa Rica: Findings over the years.
Building successfully in the unique environment of Costa Rica requires experience, knowledge of effective products and resources, and more importantly, creative problem solving. With this experience comes an understanding of the climate challenges and the products that are both aestethetically pleasing and long lasting. Over the years experience has taught us where to find the highest quality and most reliable vendors, the products best suited to the environment, companies that live up to their service claims, and creative ways of building that solve the issues created by the extreme of weather. Some of the areas requiring particular attention and treatment that we focus on are listed below.
We use unique roof insulation construction and special sealants for roof undercoating to prevent leaking.
We use double paine windows from a Germany company, which look like wood, but unlike wood, withstand the elements. This company has an extremely attractive product and an excellent service record.
We use the highest quality concrete and we mix elements into the block work to improve energy efficiency.
We have developed a new way of installing septic systems that lowers the frequency of field cleaning.
We only use kiln-dried wood.
We apply a unique formula of sealants to doors, windows and eave wood.
Whenever possible we use roofing products that reflect heat, solar panels, windmills, energy saving appliances and other environmentally friendly products.
We use American electricians and plumbers as well as American products for these areas.
We are environmentally conscious and use the latest energy saving technologies available whenever possible.
We have been consistently successful at cutting electricity costs for our clients.
We recycle all possible construction materials, including water, and use a designated waste tank for recycling.
Rys construction prides itself on maintaining an immaculate and orderly construction site at all times.
